Pork steaks are becoming a very popular cut of meat these days. I decided I needed to write a post about them since they are just another delicious version of country style ribs. Take a look at these beautiful pork steaks I picked up this weekend!
You can tell by the marbling as well as by the shape of the bone that this is actually a pork butt that has been cut with a meat saw into a slice that resembles a porterhouse steak. Since most country style ribs come from butts that have simply been cut differently I figure that pork steaks fall in the same family!
These were simply seasoned with salt and pepper then grilled over high heat for about six minutes a side.
I basted the pork steaks with some vinegar based barbecue sauce and grilled a few more minutes to let the sauce set.
These guys looked incredible and tasted great. I enjoyed cooking these like steak as the grill up quick and stay very tender. The large flat surface makes it really nice for taking up sauce.
If you ever find pork steaks that look like these at your meat counter do not hesitate to bring them home and throw them on the grill!!
